Safari Golf Club in Powell, Ohio is searching for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Manages day-to-day operations of all aspects of golf course maintenance to ensure pristine playing conditions and encourage repeat play.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in turf management or similar field preferred.
Minimum five years in golf course maintenance supervisory position preferred.
Knowledge of golf course turf issues and the game of golf desirable.
Ability to be proficient with Microsoft Office OS required.
Possession of an Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator License required.
Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, early mornings and holidays required.
Ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner and without direct supervision required.
Ability to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests and upholding the We Promise standards required.
Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all Zoo team members and contacts regarding company business required.
Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols required.
Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record required.
Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and follow-up treatment required.
Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually required.
Essential Duties:
Manages golf course maintenance staff within budget including but not limited to interviewing, hiring/termination, training, assigning daily tasks/work schedules, timekeeping and coaching/counseling/development of personnel assigned.
Works with Senior Vice President of Zoombezi Bay and external entities on resolution or turf related issues.
Reports to the Club Director.
Manages irrigation, seeding and fertilization programs; sod cutting; cutting turfgrass on fairways, tees, greens, roughs and driving range; raking of sand traps.
Manages proper care and cultivation of shrubs, trees and flowers; pruning, trimming and spraying.
Manages and performs application of pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides and insecticides to treat the course.
Operates and maintains irrigation systems including but not limited to: inspecting pump station and field controllers daily, inspecting sprinkler heads daily, inspecting all irrigated areas for proper watering and making necessary adjustments/repairs.
Visually inspects entire golf course daily to determine play-ability, course set-up, and completes necessary mowing changes as required.
Keeps in constant contact with Pro Shop management regarding daily course conditions.
Ensures proper operation, care and maintenance of equipment and vehicles including golf cart fleet.
Prepares, monitors and adheres to annual budget.
Works with supervisors, consultant(s) and/or other contacts to resolve serious turf-related issues.
Maintains accurate records and produces reports as required.
Fulfills continuing education requirements (i.e. turf grass).
Works with zoo maintenance to maintain cleanliness of dam daily.
Performs grounds maintenance work when necessary.
Constantly strives to further the mission of the organization and avidly supports the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay, Safari Golf Club and The Wilds.
Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio is looking for a 2nd Assistant Superintendent. Delaware Golf Club was Originally designed in 1922 by famed designer and golfer, Donald J. Ross, the course was later expanded to 18 holes under the direction of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and PGA Professional, Fuzzy Zoeller.
We are looking for an individual with strong supervisory skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and be responsible for the daily maintenance and set-up of the golf course. The 2nd assistant will act as an extra set of eyes for the Golf Course Superintendent and 1st Assistant. With the 2nd Assistant Superintendent's education and on-the-job training, he/she should be able to take complete responsibility of the golf course maintenance operation in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent.

Job Description:
We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive individual who aspires to become a golf course superintendent. The applicant needs to have a strong work ethic and willing to learn, lead by example and work to better themselves as well as the crew around them. The chosen applicant will work and be able to perform all aspects of the course: set-up, maintenance, irrigation, cultural practices, fertilize, GPS spraying, record keeping, training....
The Pepper Pike Club is a private 18 hole course designed by William Flynn in 1924. The course is about 20 miles east of Cleveland on a beautiful picturesque 260 acre piece of property. We are currently in the third year of a five year restoration plan working with Ian Andrew as the architect to bring the course back to the original intent of the design. Ian has maintained Flynn's integrity in the golf course while enhancing the natural features of the topography. Pepper is an exclusive membership with golf and dinning only. The greens, tees and fairways are poa/bent surfaces. The maintenance crew is approximately 25 employees during the peak of the season.
The applicant will be exposed to working with the superintendent, architect and construction crew throughout the restoration project while maintaining the course for member play. We work along side with the crew as well as doing many of the improvement projects in house. The work that remains to be finished is a few bunkers, many new tee's as well as reshaping and alignment, tree work and fairway expansions. There is plenty of drainage, sod work and leveling and reshaping yet to completed.
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a 2 - 4 year college in turf management or related field is preferred.
Experience:
The ideal candidate would have at least five years of golf course experience. Preferably be a licensed applicator with leadership abilities.

Sycamore Creek Country Club is looking to fill the 2nd Assistant Superintendent position. The 2nd Assistant works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent to direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course areas, including but not limited to, tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent may open the maintenance shop and run operations in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
FUNCTIONS
Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; and supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
Strongly motivated to align and partner with staff to complete all tasks to the highest standards and achieve team goals.
Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline.
May modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement.
Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications as specified by supervisor.
Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
Knowledge of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system.
