BASED ON 2021 REGISTRATIONS, WE ANTICIPATE THAT EIGHT TEAMS WILL ADVANCE TO THE TOURNAMENT BRACKET TO COMPETE FOR THE 2021 CHAMPIONSHIP! THE TEAM WITH THE MOST POINTS FROM EACH POD WILL ADVANCE PLUS THREE WILD CARD TEAMS (DETAILS BELOW).
RULES OF THE 2022 KRESINA MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP:
POD TIE-BREAKER SYSTEM
WILD CARD TEAMS
We anticipate three wild card teams to advance to the playoffs. The three teams with the most points from pod play that did not win their pod will advance to bracket play. If there is a tie for these spots, the tie breaker will consist of:
TOURNAMENT BRACKET SEEDING
The teams winning their pods will receive one of the top five seeds based on their point totals. The team with the most points will be the 1 seed and so on. If there are ties for seeding, the same tie breaker used to determine Wild Card teams will be utilized to break such ties.
Wild Card teams will be seeded in the final three spots based on their point totals. The Wild Card team with the most points will be the 6 seed and so on. Ties for seedings will utilize the same tie breaker system as used to select the Wild Card teams.
IN CASE OF CONFLICTS
The event committee does its best to predict any and all scenarios, but if a scenario arises that was not accounted for, the committee will determine the best possible solution. In the case that a committee member is impacted by the decision, they will recuse themselves from the decision making process.
